New Gallery Exhibit Features Douglas Johnson

 Doug Johnson Thanskgiving (Elgin, Ill. - January 22, 2021) Douglas Johnson, director of the McLean County Art Center in Bloomington, Ill., is exhibiting recent work in the Draewell Gallery at Judson University. The paintings featured in At the Speed of Light: Illinois Landscapes depict various locations in small towns and the rural countryside in central Illinois. The quality of light at various times of day from dawn to dusk is highlighted in all the images.

Johnson earned Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in art with emphases in painting and printmaking from Illinois State University in Normal, Ill., then completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb with an emphasis in painting and drawing. He taught art courses at a number of Chicago-area schools, including Judson, where he also served as Assistant Registrar during the mid-1990s while furthering his painting career.

Johnson’s work can be viewed in the Draewell Gallery in the Harm A. Weber Academic Center at Judson University from January 18 – April 1, 2021. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
