Clubs and Special Interest Groups

Starting an Interest Group or Club

There are two ways to get an activity group formed. Students can form either (A) a JSO Sponsored Club OR (B) a JSO Sponsored Special Interest Group.

1. Determine whether you want to be a JSO Sponsored Club or a JSO Special Interest Group

The basic difference is financial support!

JSO Sponsored Club: A club is seeking financial support from JSO and the student life fee in order to help execute their events/purposes. There are much stricter requirements for clubs because of the financial need. More info about club requirements can be found in the Club Manual.

JSO Sponsored Special Interest Group: Special interest groups are better suited for student groups/causes/activities that do not require any funding and want to be able to advertise and schedule their opportunities to the campus in an efficient manner. More info about interest groups can be found in the Special Interest Group Manual .
