Education | Judson University Christian College

Go to the head of the class and make a difference

As a teacher, every day you walk into a classroom you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference. At Judson University, we can give you the skills you need to make the most of those opportunities. You’ll find our teacher education graduates in almost every school in the northern Fox River Valley and in many schools across the country. Our education curriculum’s emphasis on extensive field experience and commitment to Christian ethics keeps our graduates in high demand. Unlike many teacher education programs, we give you the chance to begin practicum experiences your freshman year, so you can decide early on if teaching is right for you. By the time you graduate, you’ll have a ton of experience in diverse public and private classroom settings.

Education Majors (Bachelor Degrees)

Students in our Education Department can choose from a variety of majors including a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education (Birth to Second Grade), Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (Grades 1-6), a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education: Learning Behavior Specialist (Ages 3-21), or a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education (Grades 9-12). In addition to our undergraduate degrees, we also have a licensure-only program, Master of Education in Literacy program, and a Doctor of Education in Literacy program.

The education programs align with the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards and prepare candidates for Illinois licensure. Any candidates wishing to teach in another state should check with that state’s board of education to determine the ease of transferring the Illinois license.

Education Certificates

In addition to our offered education degrees, we also have a certificate-only program designed for individuals who already have at least a bachelor's degree and are looking to obtain their license to teach in the state of Illinois.
