Pat A. Hargis, Emeritus Professor of Writing and Literature, began teaching at Judson in 1987. In 2018, he became the Writing Center Coordinator. More Info

Dr. Varghese Mathai specializes in metaphysical and modern poetry, but his research interests include African-American slave narratives and accounts of miracle literacy. He teaches both writing and literature and is the director of Chapel for the adult education program. More Info

A part-time writing instructor at Judson, Janet Riehecky teaches both expository and creative writing. She has published more than a hundred books for children and has won a Best Children's Nonfiction Award. Rebecca Schreiner teaches Expository Writing. She holds master's degrees in both English and Library Science, with years of experience as a faculty and research librarian in academic libraries. She is a recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Texas-Austin National Institute of Organizational Development.

Dr. Stuart Ryder, Emeritus Professor, was awarded for 50 years of service to Judson in 2018. Before his retirement in 2003, he taught linguistics, literature, and writing. Educated at Yale, he is the original architect of the English program and the division of Communication Arts. More Info
