Olivia Bartholomew

Graphic Design, Class of 2019

When Olivia Bartholomew of Pontiac, Ill., was looking for colleges, she knew three things: She wanted to study architecture, play softball, and be a resident assistant at a Christian university. When she joined Judson University, she found a greater passion for the Art Department and changed her major to Graphic Design. All of her other dreams came true while at Judson.

Olivia graduated this spring after earning a degree in Graphic Design and a certificate in Entrepreneurship. As a design major, she had three internships. She helped PR Strategies and Communications extend their online reach, worked at Creative Werks to design name-brand candy packages, and created brochures for Anguleris Technologies. In addition to her internships, she was well-prepared for real-work experience by her professors. Olivia said her professors instilled in her a willing work ethic, an understanding that she was made by God to create, and the empowerment to use her design skills to uniquely impact others for the glory of Christ.

Olivia was an integral member of the Resident Life and Softball teams. She served as an RA for three years and led her dorms for two years. She also was a leader on the Softball team, where she was captain during her senior year. Olivia found that her time on Res Life shaped her college experience. The staff didn’t just seek to develop her as a dorm leader, they invested into her as a whole person, intentionally building relationships and helping to ensure that she was following God’s leading for her life. The Softball team also impacted her life. Although she experienced the change of three different coaches over the course of her four years, the team was steadfast and learned to lean on one another, bonding as a family during her final season.

Although Olivia’s Judson journey zoomed by, she is excited to begin her career in Graphic Design. She is hopeful to find a role in an organization that will impact the lives of others and is trusting God for His clarity. “Thanks to my professors and my internships, I believe I am ready to enter my career, work hard, and use the gift that God gave me,” Olivia said.
