Graphic Design, Class of 2019

When Stevie Caterina '17 was looking for schools, Judson University wasn’t originally on the list. This alumni from Tucson, Ariz., worried that the price tag of a private institution would be far outside her means. However, for Stevie’s first tour of campus, a parking spot had her name on it, and she was greeted with a smile. She felt that Judson had carefully prepared for her visit. Staff from the Financial Aid Department discussed the options available to Stevie, easing her money fears.

“The Christian aspect was also intimidating, but God put it on my heart to talk to Him about it. Ultimately, my family and I decided it was the best choice,” Stevie said.

Stevie was surprised to find that her faith grew tremendously during her time as a student. She loved attending chapel three times a week, where she not only connected with other students but had time reserved for worship. She also enjoyed taking Bible classes and found that it deepened her understanding of the Scriptures. She participated on two missions trips to Belize and was inspired to serve and become more involved with her local church.

Stevie pursued a degree in marketing because it allowed her to showcase her artistic side and utilize her skills in guiding others to view things from creative perspectives. Marketing enabled Stevie to pursue her passion of helping others with their own decision-making process.

Stevie said the real-life experience she gained at Judson prepared her for her current career and equipped her to present her ideas with confidence. At Judson, she participated in a case study on Calibre Coffee in Barrington, where she helped the owner improve marketing strategies based on feedback from regular customers. Due to the assistance of Judson students, the business developed a strong social media presence. Stevie also worked for a local magazine editor and saw how a fresh perspective can revitalize a business. Then she landed her first corporate job working for a Judson alumni who attended a career fair at the university.

Today, Stevie works for the Marketing Department of an online university, helping students share their testimonies of success and providing school representatives with the necessary marketing materials for events. With her experience in higher education, Stevie also gives back to the university by serving on the Judson Alumni Board. Stevie and her husband also run a small business that was the subject of a marketing research project from Judson.

“I am truly grateful for my experience and connections at Judson,” she said.
