Internships are a critical part of the psychology major because they prepare students for graduate school and jobs. Our graduates report that their internships were very valuable towards their future success. Below are just a few of the places where Judson students have interned.

Student Internship Locations

  • Alden Rehabilitation and Health Center - Work with social service director to set up interviews and conduct assessments.
  • Alexian Brothers Hospital: Child Life - Use art, play, music, and conversation to interact with children and families in the pediatric unit.
  • Department of Children and Family Services - Observe and assist staff as they interact with clients.
  • Ecker Center - Observe and participate in group counseling sessions and interact with clients (depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, personality disorders).
  • Equine Assisted Therapy - Observe and assist developmentally disadvantaged clients with equine therapy techniques.
  • Green Acres Animal Connection - Observe and interact with clients in animal assisted activities.
  • Hoffman Estates Police Department - Job shadow officers and detectives as they go to court, monitor traffic, and answer house calls.
  • Provena St. Joseph’s Hospital - In an inpatient setting, observe and assist in treatment program.
  • Midwest Center for Child Development, Physical Therapy Department - Observe and assist with therapeutic treatment.
