Majors

Music Performance

The Music Performance major provides students with both a skills-based curriculum and also ample performance opportunities for a 21st-century, real-world music education that prepares students well for a number of different possible vocations. Core classes lay a solid foundation, giving students the music theory, music history, orchestration, and other skills needed to succeed. From there, Music Performance students are encouraged to add a specialized minor to increase their training in a particular area of music performance.

Music Business and Entrepreneurship Major

This major is an interdisciplinary degree program combining music, business, and worship arts. The program is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to create, perform, and record their own popular songs and worship music, and then start their own small music business with which they can market their work. The Music Business Entrepreneurship major culminates in a Senior Music Business Project (MUS473) that includes a faculty-juried business plan presentation and faculty-juried public performance in addition to cooperative work with other senior project students in artist relations, concert promotion and concert production. The Senior Music Business Project, MUS473, is the capstone experience and assessment.

Minors

  • Church Music Performance
  • Music Composition
  • Music Performance (concentration area required)
  • Studio Piano Teaching
  • Studio Voice Teaching
  • Praise and Worship Music

Certificate

Certificate programs in music are designed for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree or the international equivalent. These are non-degree programs; students do not earn a formal award from Judson University. Rather, students are prepared to go into graduate studies in music.

Music Performance

This certificate program is designed for individuals looking for intensive music performance study both as a soloist and an ensemble musician in order to enhance their employment opportunities or prepare for graduate studies. Both a 1-year and a 2-year program are available.

Church Music

The Church Music Certificate-Cultural Immersion at Judson University is designed for individuals eager to deepen their understanding about worship music and sophisticate performance skills as a worship leader at their church.
