
Dr. Denise Purvis
Assistant Professor, Counseling
Dr. Denise Purvis, a licensed clinical professional counselor, nationally board-certified counselor, and certified substance abuse counselor joins Judson as an assistant professor of Clinical Counseling within the Division of Professional Studies.
Her background includes more than 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health as a counselor in private practice, program development within agencies, supervision roles, community agencies, employee assistance program provider, and as a substance abuse counselor in residential and outpatient settings. Dr. Purvis has served as an adjunct instructor with other universities. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Family and Child Studies, with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Northern Illinois University and a doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University. She is an active member of various local and national counseling associations.
