Robert Weber

Cellist Robert Weber has been a member of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra since 1988. He is a native of Villa Park, Illinois, and has lived in Elgin, Illinois since 1984. His primary teachers include Gilda Barston, DePaul University School of Music, Cassell Grubb, Depauw University and the Interlochen Arts Academy, and Charles Wendt of the Stradivari String Quartet at the University of Iowa.
During his career as an orchestral cellist, Mr. Weber has performed with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra (Iowa), the Quad Cities Symphony Orchestra, The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, The Rockford Symphony Orchestra (Illinois), and the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber cellist, Mr. Weber has performed with the University of Iowa Center for New Music, the Irived Arts String Quartet, and currently is cellist with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra String Quartet. He has taught at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, Atlantic Christian College, Wilson, NC, Sandhills CC in Pinehurst, NC, and at Judson University since 2003.
Upon leaving the University of Iowa in 1980, Mr. Weber was awarded a four year fellowship into the North Carolina Visiting Artist Program. A state funded venture by the state, Mr, Weber provided hundreds of various musical and educational “informances” and formed Duo Con Brio, a cello and piano duo that performed state-wide. Currently, Mr. Weber performs with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, The New Philharmonic Orchestra, The DuPage Opera Orchestra, The Jamie O’Reilly trio, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra String Quartet, and the Judson Civic Orchestra. He resides in Elgin with his wife, Shari, a flutist with the Judson Civic Orchestra. They are members of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Elgin.
