Adjunct Instructor of Physical Sciences

Job Summary:

The Department of Science and Mathematics at Judson University seeks applications from individuals to teach Earth Science w/lab for the Spring semester of 2022. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a Physical Science discipline (e.g. Astronomy, Earth Science, or Geology).

Primary Responsibilities:

The position requires teaching in a “studio” format encompassing face-to-face meetings 3 times a week for 2 hours each meeting. The six hours of contact time includes lab. There is the potential for the course to be offered in a hybrid or on-line format to meet instructor scheduling needs. Instructor will prepare lessons (lecture and/or active learning), select homework assignments (these can be completed using an online homework system), create tests and quizzes over the prescribed textbook sections, respond to student questions (often via email), and evaluate student work. The instructor will also make use of our LMS eLearn as a central distributing center of course information especially if the course is not taught face-to-face.


Candidates must 1) hold a master’s degree in science or science education, 2) demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith, 3) share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community, and 4) possess collaborative skills to work with colleagues across the Science and Mathematics Department and throughout the university.


Adjunct faculty hold the rank of instructor and are hired on a per course basis.
