May 15, 2025 Elgin, Ill. – Judson University Athletic Director Rick Williams announced that Shawn Flynn has been named the new Head Coach for Eagles football.
Flynn, a 1989 graduate of Judson, was a 2-sport athlete during his time as a student. Flynn began coaching high school football in 2008 for Liberty High School (Col.). He was a large part of Liberty’s instant turnaround from an 18-game losing streak in 2006-2007 to a 5-5 record in 2008. In 2009, Flynn served as Varsity Defensive Coordinator and made an immediate impact, as he built a top 5 defense while Liberty went 9-1 for the only 4A conference football title in school history.
In 2010, Flynn moved to varsity offensive coordinator at Liberty and then served in the same capacity at Hinkley High School for 1 year and Ponderosa High School for 10 years in Colorado. In 2024, Flynn was the Associate Head Coach and Quarterbacks Coach for Colorado Springs Christian. Flynn’s legacy in implementing a dynamic spread pistol offense is reflected in a 45 points per game average over the last ten seasons. He has also been recognized as the Coach of the Year at both Liberty and Ponderosa high schools.
Flynn has presented about the dynamic up-tempo pistol offense at Glazier clinics, one of the most widely attended coaching seminars in the country, and at other colleges and universities.
Flynn earned Judson University’s Distinguished Alumnus Award in December of 2017, where he also was the keynote speaker during the Fall 2017 commencement ceremony.
Flynn has Master’s degrees in science from Colorado Technical University and theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Flynn and his wife Wendy, have three children – Layton, Dylan, and Kendall along with three grandchildren.
