Mass Anthem

Judson's newest worship band

Christian band Mass Anthem has come a long way since its beginnings at Judson University in 2012. Back then, the group consisted of four members. But the band currently has three, including Chad Sowards (Worship Arts ’16), Tyler Sowards and Joey Atansio (Music Business & Entrepreneurship ’19). In 2014, Mass Anthem landed on Worship Leader magazine’s “Top 5 College Releases” for the group’s debut album, Alive, which was produced while Chad Sowards was still a student and worship leader in Judson’s chapel ministry. Even parts of the group’s 2017 CD, Through People Like Me were produced in Judson’s own Dark Room Studios.

The band’s music and ministry have gained a substantial following. When band members released a mashup cover of “I’ll Find You” and “Hills and Valleys” in October 2017, they had no idea of the impact. After posting their video on Facebook, it was viewed more than 240,000 times. It was subsequently released on iTunes, Spotify and other streaming sites, too.To top their continued trajectory up, the group recently signed with Dream Records, a recording label based in Los Angeles, California.

Judson couldn’t be more proud of these men of music and ministry who now call Nashville, Tenn., home.

"Mass Anthem has a passion for young people and the struggles they face on a daily basis. We want our music to be relevant to pop culture, but also bring a positive message and encourage people in their faith. All our music is written from a place of honesty and struggles we have actually faced. We want kids to know that we have been where they are, and they can come out the other side stronger. We hope that when people hear our music, the lyrics speak to them and into their story." - Chad Sowards '16, Mass Anthem
