Master of Architecture Program Faculty
Dr. Edgardo Perez-Maldonado is Chair of Judson’s Architecture and Interior Design Department, having served both in the field of Architecture and in academia around the country and around the world for more than 13 years. Hailing from Puerto Rico, Dr. Perez-Malonado completed his Ph.D. in history at the Inter-American University Metropolitan Campus, concentrating on topics of urbanism, architecture, and culture.
View Bio of Dr. Edgardo Perez-MaldonadoAlan Frost is an Associate Professor of Architecture and has served as the Director of Fabrication as well as taught as an adjunct at Judson since 2011. Alan Frost, RA, LEED AP, teaches design courses in the third year and graduate levels. As a designer, thinker, and fabricator, his interests occupy the intersection of the practical and conceptual; exploration and critique; and making and thinking.
View Bio of Alan FrostSean Gallagher teaches at the third and fourth-year levels in design and technology, with graduate-level classes focusing on the practice of architecture. He is an active practitioner with an office in Geneva, Illinois. His practice serves communities on Chicago’s north shore and suburbs of the Fox Valley.

Dan Hussey, visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture, has been an adjunct professor in architecture at Judson since January of 2019. Prior to Judson, he spent the last 32 years building his private architectural firm, Hussey Architects Ltd. Dan worked for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in Chicago and taught at both the University of Notre Dame and Andrews University earlier in his career.

Joan Kaufman has been an adjunct professor of interior design at Judson since January of 2016. Joan worked for several commercial design firms and an office furniture dealership prior to founding Interior Planning & Design, Inc., an award-winning design firm located in Naperville, Ill.
View Bio of Joan KaufmanChristopher Lauriat is an assistant professor of Architecture and the assistant chair, of the Department of Architecture and Interior Design. He holds a master’s degree in Architecture from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Environmental Engineering from Ball State University. With expertise in ecclesiastical and residential design, Lauriat continues his role as director of Architecture for Chicagoland design-build firm, Church Building Consultants.
View Bio of Christopher LauriatJohn Loritsch, visiting assistant professor for architecture, earned a degree in architecture at Iowa State in 1975 and then worked in Minneapolis. In 1979, he returned to his hometown of Chicago to begin a long employment with Otis Associates, eventually forming Otis Koglin Wilson, where he became a partner during a 29-year relationship. His commercial work focused on the mid-rise/ mixed-use market in addition to schools, athletic facilities, and residential projects. After retiring from Rinsinger Associates, he became an adjunct professor at Judson in January 2018.

Timothy Manning
Award-winning architect and entrepreneur Michael Meissner is Visiting Assistant Professor of Architecture at Judson. He received his Bachelor’s of Architecture in Design from the University of Illinois Chicago Campus Circle and has been an Illinois Registered Architect since 1983. He is passionate about solving challenging problems in order to benefit the local and global communities. He has previously taught as an Assistant Adjunct Professor and served as a mentor to junior architects. He also has delivered lectures at several academic and professional institutions.
View Bio of Michael MeissnerDr. Luis Fernando Nunez studied Architecture and earned a Master’s Degree in Architectural Design in Mexico, where he graduated with Honors. He also studied for his Ph.D. in Architecture at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He was a full-time professor at Monterrey Tec University Campus Querétaro, Director of the Architecture Program and Department as well as Dean of the School of Architecture, Art and Design of Monterrey Tec University.

Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Linda Nussbaumer began her university teaching career in 1994 as a temporary hire at South Dakota State University (SDSU), Brookings, SD. After one semester, she was hired as an adjunct until the completion of her doctorate. From that point, she moved forward to ultimately receive a full professorship. At retirement, she received the honor of Professor Emeriti. She loves working with students and has written several textbooks to share her knowledge and legacy in the written format. As the program coordinator at SDSU, she and her colleagues lead the program to become a CIDA-accredited program. Presenting and learning at the Interior Designer Educators Council (IDEC) became the norm.
View Bio of Dr. Linda NussbaumerMarcos Petroli earned two Bachelor’s degrees from the College of Architecture, Federal University of Rio Grande; his Master’s from the History and Theory of Architecture from the Federal University of Rio Grande; and a Ph.D. in the History and Theory of Architecture from Illinois Institute of Technology.
View Bio of Dr. Marcos PetroliAlexandra began her teaching career in 2020 at Judson University. She was a teaching assistant at Illinois State University in 2014- 2015, while earning her undergraduate degree. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and Environmental Design from Illinois State University and a Master of Architecture from Southern Illinois University. Professor Richardson teaches a variety of courses including Codes for Interiors and Studio. Her professional affiliations have included IIDA.

Professor Wendy VanderNoordaa began her teaching career in 2010 as an Instructional Assistant Professor of Interior Design for Illinois State University where she received several competitive grants for her work with Civic Engagement. She holds a Bachelor of Art degree from Judson University in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Interior and Environmental Design from Illinois State University.
