For the fifth year, Judson University is partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin to offer a full-tuition, four-year scholarship to the high school student who wins the organization’s Youth of the Year Award.
The Boys & Girls Club of Elgin announced at a March 10 event that Michelle Olson, a senior at Larkin High School in Elgin, Ill., is this year’s Senior High winner of its Youth of the Year Award.
The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. This National program from Boys & Girls Club of America is now in its 75th year and honors the nation’s most awe-inspiring young people on their path to great futures and encourages all kids to lead, succeed and inspire.
Michelle is an honors student and a hard worker. Part of the Visual Performing Arts academy, Michelle hopes to hone her public speaking skills as she works toward becoming an engineer.
“Judson University is honored to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin to help shape the life of this year’s Youth of the Year Awardee. We are pleased to offer Michelle the opportunity to earn her bachelor’s degree at Judson University with a full-tuition scholarship,” said Judson President Gene Crume. “By supporting the Youth of the Year winner to attend Judson University, we are providing a unique opportunity for them to fulfill their academic dreams at the same time we are fulfilling our mission to shape lives that shape the world.” Since 1947, the Youth of the Year Award has been Boys & Girls Club of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of club members. Each year, one exceptional youth from a Boys & Girls Club program rises to the role of National Youth of the Year, too.
