WORSHIPS ARTS, CLASS OF 2022

Yessenia Garcia of Milwaukee is a worship arts major and a voice performance minor at Judson. She has also been a part of the University Choir, Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Worship Nights, and the University Ministry Team.
“I love being in all these ensembles and teams,” Yessenia said. “I have experienced teamwork, integrity, friendship, hard work, leadership, being a servant, [but] most importantly, I have experienced a Godly community that is willing to continually serve one another and bring glory to God through the gifts [He] has given us.”
Originally, Yessenia had intended to attend another university, but after praying and seeking the Lord, she found that Judson was everything she wanted in a university.
“I did not know the importance of community until I came to Judson,” Yessenia said. “I never thought I mattered within a community, but the Judson community makes my calling and presence known. This community has allowed me to experience the love of Jesus in deeper ways.”
Yessenia received the Simon and Nancy Anderson Scholarship for Excellence in Worship Arts this year and expressed how it has impacted her life this year: “It was an extreme honor to receive this award, especially in such a tough year,” Yessenia said. “I can receive this award because of [this] tremendous community. I was able to grow, experience Jesus in deeper ways, and become a better me because of Judson. I couldn’t have received this award without them. So, thank you, Judson community, for impacting my life in exceptional ways.
