Adjunct Instructor of Physics

Job Summary:

The Department of Science and Mathematics in the School of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education at Judson University seeks applications from individuals to teach General Physics I and II from Fall 2023 to Spring 2024. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in physics.

Primary Responsibilities:

The position requires teaching lecture and lab for our two-semester sequence of General Physics. General Physics I for Fall 2023 has one lecture and two lab sections. General Physics II for Spring 2024 has one lecture and one lab section. Actively monitor students and provide help as needed during lab sessions. Judson Physics labs make use of Pasco Capstone software for data collection and analysis. Prepare lessons, select homework assignments, and create tests and quizzes over the prescribed course topics. Give lectures and/or active learning work during class times as appropriate to the course goals. Respond to student questions (often via email) and evaluate student work.

Qualifications:

Candidates must 1) have a minimum of 18 hrs. of graduate level credits in physics, or hold a master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in physics, 2) demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith, 3) share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community, and 4) possess collaborative skills to work with colleagues across the Science and Mathematics Department and throughout the university.

Salary/Benefits:

Adjunct faculty hold the rank of instructor and are hired on a per-course basis.
