Jean Bishop

Flutist Jean Bishop has been a member of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra since 1979 and its principal flutist since 1982. She also serves as the principal flute of the Light Opera Works orchestra and the Park Ridge Fine Arts Symphony.

 Ms. Bishop is a native of Chicago, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree from Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University. An active free-lance musician in the Chicago area, Ms. Bishop has performed with the Grant Park Symphony, Chicago Opera Theatre, and the Milwaukee, Joffrey, and Ruth Page Nutcracker Ballets. She has also performed with the Colorado Music Festival in Boulder, and is a member of the Elgin Symphony Woodwind Quintet. Jean is also the piccoloist of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and the flutist for the Chicago Winds Trio. She and her husband Mark Sundberg, a Lutheran pastor, live in the northwest suburbs with their daughter.
